Setting up FAQs
On the day of the appointment, the veterinary team will arrive at your home (or chosen location). We use an appointment window system, where your pet can be seen within a specific timeframe, typical morning 9-12 or afternoon 2-5.
Depending on the service and day, your pet may be seen in your home/yard or within our mobile veterinary truck. This vehicle is outfitted like small veterinary clinics, with the necessary tools.
The veterinary team will begin the consultation with a conversation with you and your family followed by an exam of your Petner. This could be anywhere from your living room to your yard, typical on floor or ground with your Petner, depending on your petner’s comfort and the nature of the visit.
The vet examines your pet, discusses any concerns, and provides necessary treatments or vaccinations.
We also have the unique opportunity to observe your petner in THEIR natural environment. Being in a familiar environment, the vet can observe your pet’s behavior and lifestyle more accurately, which can aid in diagnosis and advice.
At Petnership, we don’t provide “just a rabies shot” without a current exam/consultation.
Rabies vaccination is a medical procedure — and Tennessee law requires a valid veterinary-client-patient relationship (VCPR), which includes a exam. More importantly, we believe vaccines should never be given in isolation from the whole pet.
A brief wellness exam allows us to:
• Ensure your pet is healthy enough for vaccination
• Discuss lifestyle risks and appropriate vaccine choices
• Review weight, dental health, heartworm prevention, and behavior concerns
• Confirm the correct vaccine interval (1-year vs 3-year when appropriate)
• Answer your questions in a low-stress, unhurried setting
Because we are a housecall practice, we focus on comprehensive, relationship-based care — not quick “in-and-out” vaccine clinics.
We believe great medicine starts with connection — not just an injection. 💜
We completely understand that nail trims can be challenging — for both pets and people. 💜
However, we do not offer nail-trim-only visits.
As a medical housecall practice, our focus is comprehensive veterinary care. Many pets find nail trims to be one of the most fear-inducing or uncomfortable experiences they encounter. Because what we do medically can already feel invasive, we aim to use our visits intentionally — focusing on exams, diagnostics, and treatments that truly require a veterinarian.
Professional groomers perform nail trims all day, every day. They are often faster, more efficient, and more experienced at handling routine trims in a way that minimizes stress.
That said, we’re always happy to help in certain situations:
• If we are already at your home for a medical visit and your pet is generally cooperative
• If your pet requires medical sedation for safe nail trimming
• If there is a medical concern related to the nails (infection, injury, abnormal growth, etc.)
Our goal is always to protect your pet’s emotional wellbeing while providing excellent medical care. If nail trims are a struggle at home, we’re also happy to discuss Fear Free strategies or a plan to make the experience less stressful moving forward.
